If you have a passion or a cause - great, build a website to promote that passion or cause. But if you want a website to make money, then you need to have revenue sources on that site. Here are some favorites.
The basic monetization for a Tier C site comes from AdSense. Or if you prefer, you can choose Yahoo Publisher Network or the MSN Ad Center. This is the easiest 'sale' on the Net! All a customer has to do is click on an ad. No purchase, no filling out forms.

The vast majority of your Tier C sites will fall into the middle of the curve. These are simple, you can easily build one each week, and your only goal is to make $10 each day and move on.
A few of your sites won't do as well as the others. They won't be total "bombs" - they will still make $2-$5/day, but they won't be as successful as the majority? Why? I don't know. Nobody knows.
Now the good news: a few of your sites will EXPLODE! These are the fun ones, the money makers. You will want to turn those into Tier B sites (perhaps even Tier A sites). A Tier B site has more income streams.

If the very thought of search engines makes you slightly nauseous, don't worry. These tactics are very simple and can be done by almost anyone.
Don't misunderstand ... there is work involved in getting good search engine position. But it's not hard - if you do it right.
First Search Engine Step: get indexed
Level of difficulty: simple
This simply means you must get your new Tier C Site listed in either Google, Yahoo or MSN. All it takes is one search engine - the others will find you once you're listed in one of them. We have several methods for achieving this. They require approximately 30 minutes of your time and you can normally be in the search engines in less than one week.
Second Search Engine Step: acquire some one-way directory links
Level of difficulty: simple but involves filling out some boring forms

We don't do reciprocal linking anymore. Google, especially, wants "natural" links. If I link to you and you link back to me, how natural is that? Reciprocal linking has definitely declined in value and we suspect that soon it will be totally useless, if not dangerous.
Our verdict: don't bother. It's a waste of time.
Third Search Engine Step: submit articles to article directories for one way links from important sites
Level of difficulty: involves some work but is simple to do
