Entrepreneur Magazine Radio Show

Starting Monday, January 3, I will be a Contributing Editor to the Entrepreneur Magazine Ebiz Radio Show. I am really thrilled about this because it has a huge audience and is heard in 162 countries. I will be on the show this coming Monday, if you'd like to listen in, via your computer. Also appearing will be the other three Contributing Editors:

1. My good friend, Andy Jenkins, co-author of Stomp The Search Engines. If you read this newsletter regularly, you will know that I am The Stomper's #1 fan. You can read a review here:

2. Dr. Ralph Wilson is one of the most famous folks on the Internet and has been in business online for years and years.

3. Lisa Suttora, who is an Auction Genius Course student and now has her own teaching and coaching website.

We would love for you to listen on Monday at noon Eastern, 9 Pacific:

In fact, YOU might be on the show one of these days. If you're doing some interesting things in the auction world, let me know and let's talk about it.

Next Live Auction Genius Course Begins January 15, 2005

The next Auction Genius Course begins on January 15. The more time I spend with eBay, the more I am seeing it differently. eBay is a way to “earn while you learn”. It's easier to make money on eBay than other way on the Net. But, it's only the beginning.

* For instance, Auction Genius Course Paul Ellis has invented two goodies that he sells on eBay. His products are so good that he has become a wholeseller and dropshipper himself.

* Another product he sold is so successful that he has put up an entire website just for selling them.

* Paul recently started his own consignment business called called Take 2 Auctions and sells in his home state of Illinois.

Paul is a great model of someone who started out selling exclusively on eBay – and now has Multiple Income Streams going for him.

The Famous “New Year's Resolution”

Perhaps the New Year's Resolution should be called “infamous”, rather than famous, simply because so few of them are kept. How many resolutions have you made that simply faded away in a few short weeks (or even days?) Probably lots of them, just like I have.

Have you seen the two “Kill Bill” movies with Uma Thurmond? I don't like really violent movies, but over the holidays I was outvoted (5 to 1) so I watched them both, and actually I'm glad they did. Thurmond is “the deadliest woman in the world” and the story is about her revenge on five people, all of whom are vicious, incredibly dangerous killers. What fascinated me about this movie was the fierce and indomitable will of the heroine. She is repeatedly hurt and damaged in the most horrifying ways, yet she will not, not, NOT give up. The only way for the Ferocious Five to save themselves is to kill her, which they try to do, naturally. Only death, though, will allow her to abandon her mission, culminating in her confrontation with Bill, the head villain.

So, what are YOUR resolutions for 2005 about? The last couple of years I have made – and kept – some 'oaths' and here's what I have learned:

1. Choose carefully. Do you fiercely want something or are you lukewarm about it? Do you have the same unstoppable will displayed in the movie? If you don't feel passion about your New Year's Resolution, you probably won't stick with it.

2. Swear to only a few Resolutions. If you have a long list, your determination and focus will be diluted. It's too distracting to have 47 different goals!

3. Take this seriously or don't do it at all. This is an oath that you are swearing to yourself and that's important. If we can't trust ourselves we lose faith in our own talents and abilities.

4. Confine your Resolutions to those things under your control. You might swear that your business will make you are millionaire in this next year, but you can't really control that outcome. You are, however, in charge of your own work habits, skills, etc., that will contribute to the outcome you want.

5. It might help to “ritualize” your Resolution(s). I write out a contract and sign it, seal it in an envelope, and put it away until January 1 of the following year. This means something to me, although you will have to find a ceremony that suits you.

I have only one 2005 resolution – and I take it very seriously. It isn't trivial or superficial. And my chances of achieving it are excellent!

Perhaps these ideas aren't helpful to you at all. Maybe you're one of those folks who follows through on everything you promise yourself. If so, good for you. The rest of us will try hard not to hate you. :-)

Happy New Year!
